At A&M, the campus democrats have to work extra hard. So they designed a flier. On it was Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Jerry Jeff Walker. After each it simply said "Democrat."
Then there was a picture of Billy Ray Cyrus. It said "Republican."
Right there, in 1993, Dave Thomas turned a corner.
Long before Mags was my lady, I took a date to the long-defunct Aquafest on Town Lake (now Lady Bird Lake). They had a lame laser-light show capped with Lee Greenwood's "Proud to Be an American." My date turned to me and said, "Oh god, I think I'm going to throw up."
Somehow, the disturbed and twisted person I am (and have always been) has ended up to be a sickeningly happy wife, professional, and mother of two.
How can I be true to my dark, goth heart, in the face of this horrible irony?

Oliver North sings?
Too bad I already sent your b-day present.

This isn't real, is it? Surely you jest.
I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.

If Oliver North really IS singing, I'm totally buying a ticket.
Did anyone else see this story about Lee Greenwood and his appointment to the NATIONAL ARTS COUNCIL by W?
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/culturemonster/2008/11/lee-greenwoods.html
Word verification: misten, as in, "My eyes are misten at the thought of Lee Greenwood on the National Arts Council."
What?!!!
No Toby Keith???
What a lousy deal!
Olly North?!?!?!!??? I'm so confused - I don't know if I'm horrified or amused.

Next to Mags, she was probably my coolest date.
